An action-hero movie star is undergoing radical therapy because he has paranoid delusions of aliens, pod people and giant feet trying to squash him. Then a small-time movie producer follows him around with his camera crew, cast of characters and a brilliant script about aliens and pod people!
They accost Kit Ramsey (Murphy) in clothing stores and talk about having sex in front of all kinds of people. And in restaurants where he cannot decode what anyone is saying because they're talking about aliens, sex and umbrellas. They even scare him to no end when they get him running away from a high-heeled wearing dog in a dark parking lot.
The moviemaker Bowfinger (Martin) manages to put the script to film by way of getting the shots he needed of an unsuspecting Ramsey, an unknown cast of out-of-work actors, and a camera crew made up of illegal aliens picked up from south of the border. And if you think they really messed with that famous paranoid actor...you should see what they did to his poor brother!
