Song Break - A Song About The 70s & The 50s Literally

Back in the Funky 70s
The party did never stop
The city of Pompeii was doing alright
But Vesuvius blew her top
Ow! Ow! Back in the Super Bad 70s
The Roman Empire still reigned supreme
Emperor Titus came to power
And he finished up the coliseum
Back in the Funkadelic 70s
Egyptian wheat was slow...
Egyptian wheat was(*)

Do you remember the 50s
When Emperor Claudius died?
The Apostle Paul traveled to Greece...
And preached the gospel wide

    1. LOL I know! They're all there with 1970s style gear, and the song is musically styled after the 1970s era crossing disco and funk and he's singing words like "ow" and "boogie" which were totally steeped in the way songs of that decade were usually done, and after Mike Nelson unplugs his Casio keyboard, Servo says "Hey who turned off my wall of sound" which is a direct reference to Phil Spector's claim to fame and was first introduced in the 1970s. :D

And then when he's singing about the 50s, he's using the musical style of the 1950s a la The Drifters and Chuck Berry. XD

    2. I know! It's just too brilliant what they do. Do you think any of that stuff would be annotated? What about your friend who does the annotated thing?

    3. I don't think segments were ever covered because most of them were just skits. But this would be one that could be annotated for sure. For the number of episodes in the MST3K universe, the segments are 5X that number.

When I look around on Ward E in Sampo's site, I often wonder why someone didn't make lists of those stats and so forth. Here's how many episodes there were ever made, and here's the number of the segments within those episodes, etc.

But I'm sticking with the menus. I've already got a Ward E certificate of authenticity for being an obsessed mstie ;)

    4. I can just hear someone out there, a light bulb and the sound of a ding, and somehow that sort of list will appear! Good times.
